featuring recently released, critically acclaimed independent and foreign films. This series provides film lovers the opportunity to
see award-winning films that would not normally be screened in San Antonio. Think of it as a chance to see the best new movie
that isn’t coming to a theatre near you! Films open concurrently in art house theatres nationwide.
Please join MCCF in the McNay’s new Chiego Lecture Hall (garden level of the Stieren Center for Exhibitions) on Thursday,
June 26, at 6:30 pm for XXY. This film is offered free of charge to McNay members and $5 for
non-members.

Alex is a 15-year-old teenager with a secret. Soon after her birth her parents decide to leave Buenos Aires to make a home out of
an isolated wooden cabin tucked away in the dunes of the Uruguayan shoreline.
XXY begins with Alex´s parents receiving a couple of friends, including their 16-year-old son Álvaro, from
Buenos Aires. Álvaro´s father is a plastic surgeon who accepted the invitation because of his medical concern for
his friends’ daughter. The inevitable attraction between both teenagers forces them all to face their worst fears.
XXY was “short listed” for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards®
The psychological fallout from alternative sexualities is explored to subtle and penetrating effect in Lucia Puenzo's XXY…in which…accomplishment matches ambition.-- Jonathan Holland, Variety |
